Went out and did some record shopping with the wonderful gift card my brother gave me for my b-day...several interesting finds, but my three favorites are below...enjoy!
...than most DJs can do with hundreds. As some of you may know from my Facebook page, I had an amazing day at a local record shop on Saturday. I purchased 35 45's and a White Stripes CD (White Blood Cells, in case you're interested) for a grand total of $3.84. Each 45 cost me 8 cents.
Amazing! I was so inspired that I decided to take a little while and blend my favorite tracks into a delicious and smooth mix, entitled $3.84. I did not use all of the records on this mix. Also, I decided to leave the crackles and pops in there (rather than editing them out), so you could hear what $3.84 sounds like in the hands of the right dedicated digger.
So as usual, this is another crazy cheap find - I think I paid 20 cents for it. Essentially it's a Vietnam POW protest song. It's got some really interesting orchestral work and a decent drum arrangement. I've had this record for about 3 weeks and I'm still not quite sure what to make of it...enjoy!
So I was out at the thrift store and came across a gem of a 45 from The Mifflin Ensemble. I can't really find anything about the band, so I have to assume it was some kind of performance group from Mifflin High School in Columbus, OH. Side A is a nice 80's synth prog-pop kind of jam. Side B is some dope ass DIY 80's rap.
